🤔 Wondering where to go shopping and not get ripped off on the price?

Below, I am going to leave you with a series of sections that will be useful to know when choosing an outlet, depending on your fashion tastes or the type of clothes you want, the distance, the schedule and more important things.

👜 How many outlets are in Bilbao?

Bilbao is the largest city in northern Spain, with a population of more than 330,000 inhabitants. Within its population, all types of clothing can be distinguished, ranging from the not very innovative to very elegant styles with a lot of classicism.

This has meant that although there are opposing styles, both agree that they like to dress in their own way but well and cheaply. For this reason, the outlets in this city, as in the rest of Spain, have skyrocketed over the years. Reaching more than 8 stores in the metropolitan area of Bilbao, of which many of them are temporary or not very well known stores yet.

➡️ Name of the outlets and brands

As mentioned above, there are many outlets in Bilbao city, but in order not to make you dizzy with so much information, I will name the 3 main outlets that I assure you that you will be satisfied with them:

    1. Fashion Outlet Barakaldo

This outlet is the most important in the northern part of Spain, with discounts of up to 70% on its products.

You will find brands of all styles, but I must tell you that if you are looking for luxury brands this is not the right outlet as there is none in my opinion that can be considered high range clothing. The brands you will find are Pepe Jeans, Adidas, Puma, Guess, Tommy Hilfiger, and much more …

It is a very nice outlet with modern facilities, where apart from stores you can go to the cinema and you can also do your shopping in a supermarket that is located inside the enclosure.

    2. Outlet Sport Basauri

This outlet is located southeast of Bilbao in an industrial park in the Barasauri district. Is only focused on sport brands such as Nike, Adidas, Asics and Puma as well as brands for hiking, swimming, skiing, paddle and tennis equipment.

It has very competitive prices with the rest of sportswear outlets, reaching up to 40%, however, it must be recognized that the variety of sizes and models is a little limited.

    3. El Corte Inglés Outlet Barakaldo

This outlet corresponds to the largest chain of shopping centers in Spain: El Corte Inglés.

In order to get rid of leftover stock, they have created several outlets where brands of all kinds, including luxury brands, are offered at deep discount.

We can find brands such as Givenchy, Alexander Mcqueen, Versace, Blamain … and other mid-range brands such as Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and others. Not all of these brands have to be in this mall; factors such as where the leftover merchandise comes from also play a role.

⌛️ How far are the outlets from the center of Bilbao?

Fashion Outlet Barakaldo is located in the metropolitan area of Bilbao, more specifically in the neighborhood of Barakaldo about 15 minutes drive from the old town of the city. By public transport about 35 minutes, depending in both cases on the rush hour and the affluence of people.

Outlet Sport Basauri is also only 15 minutes by car and 30 minutes or 41 minutes by public transportation, depending if you want to go by subway or by bus, taking into account that of the 30 minutes it would take by subway, 22 will be walking.

Like the first outlet, El Corte Inglés Outlet Barakaldo is located in the Barakaldo district, 15 minutes by car from the center of Bilbao. You can go from one outlet to another, as they are relatively close from each other, about 11 minutes walking and 4 minutes by car.

🕒 Schedule of the outlets in Bilbao

Normally the opening hours of the stores in Bilbao are from 10 am to 9 pm, but the day of the week or holidays may also have an influence.

Fashion Outlet Barakaldo is open Monday till Thursday from 10 am to 9 pm, Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 10 pm. Textile and footwear schedule: Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm. More info

Outlet Sport Basauri opens every day from 11 am to 2 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm, except Sundays that is closed. More info

El Corte Inglés Outlet Barakaldo has a schedule from Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 10 pm. Sundays closed. More info

🚗 How to get to the outlets?

    Fashion Outlet Barakaldo

To arrive to this outlet there are 3 different ways that can be very useful: By car, by subway or by bus.

Of course, the fastest and easiest way is by car because you can be there in just 15 minutes, but if you do not have a car or do not want to move by cab, because its price can be more expensive compared to other means of transport, you can also go to the mall by subway getting off at the stop “Bagatza stop” and then walk for only 15 minutes.

On the other hand, by bus you should take the A3136 line and get off at the stop “Gernikako Arbola 73“.

    Outlet Sport Basauri

In my opinion this is the outlet a little more complex to reach, as with the exception of the car that will take only 13 minutes; the public transport that you will use, whether it is the subway or the bus, you will have to consider at least walking 16 minutes from where you are dropped off.

However, if you want to take the subway, you will have to get off at “Ariz stop“, and then walk for 20 minutes.

By the other hand, if you wish to take the bus you will need to take the fastest lines: A3911, A3912, A3917, A3925, A3622 and A2611, and then walk for at least 16 minutes depending on the line you have chosen.

Here are some links in case you want to move by the subway of Bilbao or by bus to make it easier for you.

    El Corte Inglés Outlet Barakaldo

Like the first outlet, if you want to go by subway, you will have to get off at the “Bagatza stop” and then walk 20 minutes (a little more than if you were going to the Fashion Outlet).

By bus, in my opinion I would not recommend it, since you will have to make many transfers and walk a lot, but if you still prefer it and want it, the buses that leave you the closest are: A3141, A3136 y A3129

🍽️ Are there restaurants or places to have a drink near the outlet?

Yes, in all the outlets there are places around that offer food and drinks, both to take away and to eat in the same restaurant.

Fashion Outlet Barakaldo, has restaurants within the same complex where lunch and dinner services are offered at any time regardless of store closing hours. Restaurant hours are: Sunday to Thursday from 12:30 pm to 11 pm and Friday & Saturday from 12:30 pm to 1 am

In Outlet Sport Basauri there are no restaurants nearby or places to have a coffee, since it is located in an industrial park. But 2 minutes walk away you can find a Lidl supermarket where you can buy whatever you want if you get hungry or thirsty.

Last but not least, in El Corte Inglés Outlet Barakaldo, you can also find a wide variety of places to eat around it. Since there is no food service inside the mall itself. But you only need to walk a bit (approximately 10 min) next to the Max Center Shopping Center where you will find plenty of places to have lunch or dinner.
